Bernard, who has been serving the citizens of Hudson and Marlborough for 20 years, will be off the job indefinitely after he was suddenly diagnosed with cancer, according to a GoFundMe.
This leaves the seasoned life-saver in the care of his family, including his wife Larni, son Kolby and daughter Cami, the campaign reads. Therefore, his fellow first responders are looking for funds to support Bernard's family during this difficult time.
"He is a kind and compassionate man with a heart of gold and always a true professional with the skills to get the job done while consistently showing compassion and kindness to all those he encountered," the GoFundMe reads. "We ask that you keep Mike and his loved ones in your thoughts and prayers."
The campaign is looking to raise $35,000 dollars. People interested in donating can do so by clicking here.
